Beginning

I have decided to do what I vowed I would never do while on my trip - to start up a blog. I promised that I would never be so self-absorbed as to publish my rather feeble wanderings on something so precious as the Internet with the intent of boring to death family, friends or anyone unfortunate to have entered the words "travel", "dull" and "toss-pot" into a Google search. But here we are.

For those of you reading this who don't know me (God knows why you would be...) I have bought a round-the-world plane ticket with the intention of doing just that for 12 months. Said goodbye to family and friends and off I hopped. Roughly the plan was:

1. Hong Kong 2. London 3. New York. 4. Los Angles/Hawaii 5. Melbourne (home)

The main reason for starting the blog (I feel like a tool even writing the word) is I found even communicating to a small number of people only by email become a tiresome effort. Endless cutting and pasting of names and email addresses in the attempt to convince everyone that they were getting personalised correspondence with me (if you got an email from me prior to this blog starting, yes, I'm sorry but I would normally write one version with only your name being different - the illusion is shattered).

I cannot promise that this will be updated regularly (or at all) and that it won't fall by the wayside as all good intentions often do. But at least I made the effort. Please feel free to comment, it will be nice to communicate with someone in my birth language. If anyone takes offence at what I've written please make use of the following statement: "I'm sorry for (cut and paste grievance here) and any harm it may have caused".

Yours sincerely
Anthony/Tony
